Whole-House Repiping

Homes built before 1970 in the PNW often have galvanized supply lines. Homes built 1978-1995 may have polybutylene — a material that fails. Both eventually need to be replaced. We quote whole-house repipes against partial replacements based on what's actually failing.

Scope

What's included

  • Site walk and pipe-material identification
  • Quote for whole-house repipe AND partial-repipe option
  • Permit submittal with the local AHJ
  • PEX install with documented manifolds and shutoffs
  • Wall patching included in the quote OR coordinated with your GC
  • Pressure testing and final inspection

Audience

Who needs this

  • - Homeowners with pinhole leaks in galvanized supply lines
  • - Owners of homes built 1978-1995 with polybutylene plumbing
  • - Owners doing major remodels who want to open walls once
  • - Insurance-driven repipes after a covered pipe-failure loss

FAQ

Whole-House Repiping questions

Q.01Whole-house repipe vs partial?
If failures are localized to one bathroom or one section, partial is cheaper. If failures are spreading across multiple parts of the home, or if the pipe material is universally aging, whole-house is the better long-term play. We quote both so you can decide on numbers.
Q.02How long does a whole-house repipe take?
Most occupied-home repipes are a 3-5 day project: rough-in, inspection, wall closures. Larger homes scale from there. We sequence the work so water is restored overnight at each phase.
Q.03Will insurance cover a polybutylene repipe?
Sometimes — there's been class-action settlement money for polybutylene historically, though most of those programs are closed. Check with a plumbing-specific attorney if you suspect coverage. We quote the work and let you handle the recovery.
